Frequently asked questions

Practical answers for groups planning kosher travel across New Zealand and Australia.

Planning & booking

When is the best time of year to tour New Zealand and Australia?

October to April brings the warmest, longest days across both countries. Winter (June to September) is ideal for skiing in the Southern Alps and for warm-weather touring in northern Australia. We plan around your dates, the season and the Jewish calendar.

How far in advance should we book a group tour?

For groups we recommend nine to twelve months ahead, and longer for peak season, large groups or exclusive-use lodges. Shorter lead times are often still possible — ask us.

Can we combine New Zealand and Australia in one tour?

Yes. Trans-Tasman flights are short and frequent, and many groups pair a South Island itinerary with Sydney, Melbourne or the reef.

What is included in a Kosher Pacific tour?

Accommodation, transport, guiding, sightseeing and entries, all meals prepared to Glatt Kosher standards, Mashgiach supervision where required, and 24 hour support throughout. Pricing is confirmed on request against your final itinerary.

Travel documents & entry

Do I need a visa to visit New Zealand or Australia?

Most visitors need either an NZeTA (New Zealand) or an ETA/visitor visa (Australia) before departure. Requirements depend on your passport, so please check with your nearest consulate — we will remind your group of the deadlines.

Is there a visitor levy or tourism tax?

New Zealand charges an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy alongside the NZeTA. Australia's entry fees are included in the visa or ETA application.

How long should my passport be valid?

At least three months beyond your intended departure date, and ideally six months.

On tour

What is the level of physical activity on your tours?

Most itineraries are gentle to moderate, with short walks and optional activities. We can build programmes that are fully accessible, or considerably more active, depending on your group.

What kind of accommodation can we expect?

Four and five star hotels, lodges and resorts, chosen for room configurations, kitchen access for catering and proximity to your daily route.

Will we have a dedicated guide throughout the tour?

Yes — an experienced local guide travels with the group, and one of our own representatives accompanies larger and dietary-sensitive programmes.

What should we pack?

Layers year round, a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and a swimsuit. We send a packing note with your final documents.

What about dietary requirements and allergies?

This is our speciality. Every meal is Glatt Kosher, and individual allergies, Cholov Yisroel, gluten-free and other requirements are recorded and catered for by name.

Practical information

What currency is used and are credit cards widely accepted?

The New Zealand and Australian dollars. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, including on public transport in the main cities.

Is tipping expected?

No. Tipping is not part of the culture in either country, though it is welcomed for exceptional service.

Will my mobile phone work? Is there reliable Wi-Fi?

Coverage is good in cities and along main routes, with gaps in remote national parks and fiords. Wi-Fi is standard in hotels and on many coaches.

How safe is travel in New Zealand and Australia?

Both are among the safest countries in the world for visitors. Our guides carry emergency contacts and we maintain 24 hour on-tour assistance.
